  reading julia's comment about how she and her husband have become the epitome of evil (lol) moved me to post.

  i have several family members and close friends that have faded or simply walked away.

  each of them has chosen a different course.

  YEEHAW! i've been fading into the distance for three or four years. I don't remember the first memorial i missed but it was in recent times. So far we've only celebrated birthdays, halloween, mothers/fathers days - this year we're jumping both feet into the vomit, we're going to buy a tree at Christmas and decorate it, if the elders come by they can lump it.

  You know what - there's a REASON so many people have been doing the holidays and building traditions. I don't care what the reason is anymore. But I want to be among the regular people doing regular things. I'm tired of being so damned WEIRD and worrying about whether every little detail makes "Jehovah sad," for crap's sake, it's ridiculous!

  I want to enjoy my family, my kids and grandkid and extended family, and my neighbors and acquaintences. I'm tired - EXHAUSTED! - of having to stop and wonder if every tom dick and harry is a good association or whether they eat peas with a spoon or a fork.

  I own my life.

  Good times sounding great, Julia! It's so wonderful to realize that the time in your life belongs to you and you have every right to use it the way you want to.

  It just popped into mind this morning how great it is to only have work and family things to do, and no meetings and silly made-up problems to worry about down at the KH.

  I never could figure out how on earth people coped with house chores, jobs, kids, AND the f.s., AND the meetings, AND the other obligations they volunteered for.

  One way they coped was to let their laundry pile up into mountains, let their yards turn into jungles, let all their personal matters go unattended. Then talk about the "stress from this system" - it's idiotic.

  i sat in the community garden tonight and talked with one of my neighbors, an old lady in an electric wheelchair.

  she was telling me she won't be able to garden next year, it's getting to hard for her since her stroke.

  so we talked about her stroke.

  Those guys don't need to do any of that stuff. They need a meeting once in a while to see who needs help or what repairs to schedule. And get a big coffee pot, for crying out loud people need coffee, what is wrong with drinking coffee in the KH.

  You DOUBT that the leaders of this cult are CONSCIOUS they are using mind control? Out of all the things you have written here, imo that is the most important point.

  Do some more research just on that subject; to me their use of mind control is the entire basis of all the conversations concerning the WT.

  This morning I was thinking about stuff like people thanking God or Jehovah for saving them in a disaster that took the lives of others. Why did He save them and not the others? "God was with me, I just thank God for saving my life," etc. Those other poor schmucks just didn't measure up, somehow.

  How about believing the JW in the KH during that tsunami were untouched because they went to the meeting, that Sunday morning? Is that or is that not SUPERSTITION?

  Or people who believe they won't be in a traffic accident if they're out in fs? Seems like superstition to me.

  i started fading probably 8 years ago.

  completely inactive for 5 years now.

  fortunately my entire family including the dw also has faded.. one thing that has been hard to erase however is praying before meals.

  Question regarding parental obligation to report to authorities

  i am relatively new to the forum, and not quite as familiar with all of the ins and outs of jw culture as many of you are, so i apologize if this is an ignorant question.

  it is quite apparent the wt has handled child abuse allegations in a horrible way, viewing it as sin as opposed to a crime.

  after an allegation is reported to the elders, and they are not required by law to report to the authorities, why don't parents simply go to the authorities themselves and report the crime.
